Whilst it’s not the ‘Robbo’ most fans were hoping Blues would be announcing today, the club have announced that club captain Paul Robinson has signed a new deal to extend his initial 1 one month trial in to a sixth year, making him the longest serving player currently at the club.

Robinson, 38, who last season assisted Blues under 23’s with Richard Beale, will still be assisting as a coach, however as yet it is not known which level he will help at. With Beale now assisting new appointment Lee Carsley with the under 23’s, and under 18’s match-day clashing with the first team, he may well find it difficult to balance playing and coaching. Robinson, however, may now be seen in more of a backup role as a player and his availability for other duties may increase.

Robbo has made a total of 171 appearances for Blues, 25 of which came in last season’s campaign.
